Friday Update... Fabulous... Winter Wonderland...and All Fresh Groomed !

Friday Jan 18th- A spectacular sunny morning up here ! Fresh snow, fresh grooming, and snow laden trees make for heavenly conditions. Its - 6 degrees and no wind with mostly sunny skies. Angela I was asked by a Visitor from Australia if I ever get tired of the snow laden trees and the snow and I honestly answered "Never". There truly is something surreal and mystical about being out in the forest, soft snow falling and the world seemingly has fallen away. THAT is what keeps me coming back to the trails.- Kristine So no matter what your reason is for skiing, I know there are many loves to get you out here, we are truly blessed to have the KNC in our back yard. Playtime at its winter best!

Another VERY successful Kootenay Cup this year with over 300 racers participating. Lots of kids and adults skiing with big smiles on their faces. The kids always make this a fantastic event. Tons of fun... And a big thank you to all the many Kootenay Cup Volunteers, With all of the positive feedback and huge smiles from the racers, the 2019 Kimberley Kootenay Cup can only be deemed a huge success!!!! Kootenay Cup Stadium Map for Sunday Distance Races.

The Kootenay Cup is this weekend with races both Saturday and Sunday. 200 hundred plus racers are registered to race Sprint Races on Saturday and Distance Races on Sunday. Kimberley Nordic trails are still 90% open for recreational skiers. Day-Use skiers are being asked to ski out Meadow or Spruce trails to access the rest of the recreational trails. The lodge will be very busy and so will the parking lot. Additional parking can be found on Deer Run Drive with a trail leading up to the wax hut area. Happy skiing everyone...looks like great conditions for the weekend...and good luck to all the competitors.

Kootenay Cup Race Notice and Volunteers Needed, Jan. 12-13th.

The Kimberley Nordic Club's major event of the year is coming up fast! This race weekend attracts racers from all or the East Kootenay Valley and beyond. Last year over 200 racers put their skiing to the test here at Kimberley Nordic. The Teck Kootenay Cup Races #5 & #6 will be held on January 12th and 13th. For these races to be a success we will need a lot of volunteers. At -4 degrees , crystal clear skies and fresh grooming it couldn't be better. Please carpool if your coming up with friends as parking will be at a premium yet again today. Keep in mind that Sunday afternoons from 1 to 3 is also our Jackrabbit lessons day/time. The Moose and a calf have been sharing our trails the last few days again so please be respectful and steer clear if you spot them. Friday January 4th Good Day to All of You. It is presently -2 degrees and the snow has steadily been coming down with an overall accumulation overnight of 15 cm and still falling with a steady wind . Positively wintery up here. The awesome groomers have been working on both main and secondary trails.getting both skate and classic in good shape. With the warmer than average temperature and heavy accumulation of new snow conditions will be a bit slower.
