Ski Orienteering Event Today, Sunday, 9:00-12:00, Fun Way to Tour KNC on Skis.

The Kootenay Orienteering Club is excited to team up with the Kimberley Nordic Club to host a ski-orienteering race on Feb 24th, 2019 at the Kimberley Nordic Center. Ski orienteering is a chance to test both your skiing and navigating skills as you choose your route between checkpoints. The Kimberley Nordic Center is an ideal venue for this event with numerous trail options within a small area that range from double track classic & skate trails to single track classic. This is a fun event for all ages and skill levels for both individual and team entries including a special category for families. The Moose has Definitely Been One of the Highlights of the Year at KNC.

The moose...several moose...have been one of the highlights of skiing at Kimberley Nordic this year. PLEASE always be careful around moose...and especially if there is a calf present. There have been no serious confrontations this year...several bluff charges...but ALWAYS be careful. These are very large, wild animals...very nice to see...from a distance. Keith King sent me these pictures almost a month ago from his moose sighting. Thank you Keith. And careful...give lots of space. And happy moose watching.

Friday February the 15th MORE SNOW ..a fresh fluffy 4cm of new stuff this morning. Grooming is in progress to perfect those trails and its currently -8 degrees under high overcast skies with no wind. A peaceful silent morning. We are sharing the lodge with a group of local teachers today, having a info workshop ! The fires are going in both the waxing hut and lodge and the trails beckon ! Safe travels to those on the road for the upcoming FAMILY DAY long weekend. Please carpool when possible as we hope to have a busy weekend! Angela

Kimberley Nordic and SaveOnFoods have designed a fundraiser to support programs at KNC. Purchase a Shopping Card at the KNC Kiosk and 8% of the funds will go to supporting KNC ski programs. You get the FULL value of the card and the club benefits. Cards are available at the KNC Kiosk and through some skier programs. If possible please use cash, cheque or debit. All FRESH groomed again. Kimberley Nordic Club is know far and wide in the East Kootenays for good and regular grooming. Almost all trails were done again last night. A big shout out to all the groomers for their great efforts to amke our skiing better every week. Thanks you. Friday February 8, 2019 It is a calm and still morning up here at the Nordic Trails. We have lost our sun but the beauty you feel up here just begs to be noticed....and get lost in. It is -10C feeling like -12C with the slight breeze. Old Grooming Format Back !

GROOMING FORMAT ! We will be returning to the original track setting in direct response to the feedback received. We thank you for all of the comments as it has helped with the decision process and what is best for a skiing experience as well as safety. You will notice that some of the tracks are back to "normal" and over the next week as long as the groomer can get out, the remaining trails will follow. Please stay aware and remember that downhill skiers have the right of way. Your patience and understanding is required and very much appreciated. Happy Skiing Everyone!!
