Great news...Kimberley Nordic received almost a foot of new snow last night and the NEW big machine is out grooming. Bad news, the LIVE GROOMING REPORT has had a hiccup this morning and the great grooming is not showing on the report. But rest assured, lots of new snow and great skiing conditions are to be had. The groomer will stay out until all the major trails are freshly prepared for skiing. Get out there...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
Kimberley Nordic Club annual tradition, New Years Eve Torch Light Ski is on again. Saturday, December 31 at 7 PM - 10 PM Bring in the new year with a ski around the 3.5 km light with candles and torches. Appies, treats and hot beverages will be available in the lodge for apres ski snacking and socializing. This event is a big fund raiser for the Kimberley Nordic Racers. Kimberley Nordic Club is redesigning the club suits. It is a very long process but after much work we are finally finished the ski suit design. Below is a screen shot of what the suits will look like (though there will still be a few minor changes). The company (Apogee) is the same company as the old suits. The annual Kootenay Cup is one of the largest events Kimberley Nordic Club hosts every year. This race weekend brings in over 400 racers from British Columbia and Alberta and seems to be getting bigger every year. The Kootenay Cup Race Committee is now looking for volunteers to help host this great event. No previous experience necessary. The picture above is from last year but Kimberley Nordic Club now has enough snow to ski and officially opens this Saturday. We have been skiing since last weekend and with a little more snow coming down during the week the trail network is in skiable shape. Lights will be on starting Saturday night, lights on until10:00pm. Attendants will be working the Kiosk, starting at 9:00am, selling memberships and for pass pickup.
