Adventure Ski: Ages 12-18 

 

About: This program is for youth from age 12 to 18 with a sense of adventure who want to explore skiing through all avenues. This includes building on skill development gained in Track Attack/previous ski experience while embracing the Active for Life stage of the LTAD model and exploring other areas of winter adventure. Adventure skiers will develop their classic and skate ski technique through practice, games, long distance skis, and backcountry ski activities. The goal of this program is to further confidence on the Nordic trails and to create lifelong participants in winter activities. 

 

Requirements: Kids must be able to be active for 1.5 hours and have experience with both classic and skate skiing. 

 

When we meet: (Dryland)

• Dates: Bi-weekly Tuesdays, September 15th - November 24th 

• Times: 5:00-6:30pm*

 

When we meet: (On-snow)

• Dates: Weekly, Tuesdays, December 1st - March 9th (no sessions December 22nd and 29th)

• Times: 5:00-6:30pm*

 

*The first Tuesday of each month will be a two hour session (5:00-7:00pm) to allow for longer adventures. 

 

Cost:

• Program Cost: $250

• Ski Rentals: $200 (classic and skate equipment)
  *Note: KNC membership not included with program registration

Registration: August 22nd, 2026 at 10:00am (ongoing)

 

Additional Information: 

• KNC membership card must must be shown to Welcome Centre attendants when entering the Nordic Club

• Kids should be on their skis and ready to go at scheduled times

• All coaches are volunteers. All monies generated from registration, rentals and fundraising are used directly for this program

• Rental gear distribution takes place in late November

• All Adventure Ski participants and parents must sign the Code of Conduct before the start of the program

• We will run the program indoors if it is -20 C and below
