New building We are putting the finishing touches on plans so that we can begin the construction of our new clubhouse/paralympic facility in the spring. The building will be 1200 sq. ft., with an additional 900 sq. ft. of deck. With south-facing windows letting in the sun and glimpses of the Rockies to the east, sitting by the woodstove after a ski will be better than ever. Many will no doubt be saddened to hear that our beloved biffy, which has served us so well over the years, will be removed, as the new building will include the modern wonders of indoor plumbing. Our current hut will be moved and reborn as a wax room. Paralympic funding will also be used next year to expand our parking area and to complete a new lighted sprint loop.Trails update A crew has been hard at work on our trails since mid-September. They have cleaned up huge amounts of logging slash and most of the slash has been chipped directly onto the trails. Most of our secondary (single track) trails have been reclaimed and covered with chips. This work has been funded though a federal government grant obtained by the City of Kimberley. Additional trail work has been done by Kimberley Nordic Racers team members and their families. Tembec has burned their remaining slash piles, with KNC undertaking final cleanup. We hope you enjoy the improved aesthetics, trail conditions and snow retention. Many thanks to Carol MacGregor (City of Kimberley), Mark McKinley (contractor), Wayne Gilbert (supervision), Todd Downie, Chris Carlson and Chris Downie (chippers), the Ktunaxa crew (Lindsay, Dan, Clint, Dean and Brady) and the rest of the hard-working crew. A big thanks as well to Teck for donating labor, material (chips) and haulage costs to cover all of Centennial trail. Before and after pictures: Iker's Landing Rollercoaster Trail attendants The club is looking for diligent, hard-working trail attendants for mostly weekend work for the coming season. Base rate is $8.50/hr. with increases possible based on performance. But it's never too late to join!
